Modern & Contemporary Art - Orange Disaster

Fall 2016

Project Description: Create a piece of art (in any media related to your major) that addresses one of the following themes: The Environment, The Body, War/Conflict and Resistance. The piece should be a unique artwork, but may reference the designs and techniques used by modern and contemporary artists. The final piece should be complete and thoughtful and should clearly reflect the theme choice. While it may be a reaction to a more historical artist/artwork, the content should reflect the experience of the present time and place--the world today.
Orange Disaster, 30"x30" (each panel), acrylic and polymer resin on canvas.

Drawing inspiration from Andy Warhol's Red Disaster (http://www.mfa.org/collections/object/red-disaster-34765), I created my piece using the same silkscreening techniques used by Warhol and used imagery that reflects current events in American politics.
